A Nikon Rumor!

Was surfing for Nikon rumors concerning a specific D300 replacement (upgrade). A D400 is the rumor discussion.
My question is this, does anyone have any grounded info about a new CMOS based camera any time soon? Anything factual on this? How patient does one need to be?

SS is right. Get a canon if you are reduced to resort to rumors.

So, I will probably buy the D7200. Really, I have been curious as to why Nikon has all these letters and numbers anyway. Cameras are like computers and you will never keep up with the Jones's so; I have now had my D300 for 6-7 years I think.

The D400 has been rumored for 2 or 3 years at least.

That may be true, but it is important to consider your sources of validation, or you could be LEFT out of consideration entirely!

It sounds like I need to plan for the D7200. I've noticed in the Tel-converter chart I would also gain some compatibility with a couple of lenses I already own over my D300. ISO, buffering and Mega Pixles aside! Thanks,
I think I've talked myself into it.

I'd wait just a bit, as the rumors have the D400 being announced next month.

Tom; the D750 seems to have taken the place of the rumored D400. Remember also, this is a FX or full frame camera and the 7200 is a DX camera. Nothing wrong with that, just wanted you to be aware.
Personally, if I were you and you wish to upgrade to a full frame, I would look at the D610. A great price now and a very nice camera. Otherwise, if you are still wanting the DX for your lenses you have now, then the 7200 is the way to go. Good luck, but watch out for those nasty rumors and anything coming from SS. He is ate up with Canon! lol

Well then, buy what you will and hope the rumor is false. The nice thing about the D300 was the body--much better controls than on the present DX bodies like the D7200. If there is indeed a D400 with a professional body like the D300, plus a 24 Mpx sensor and a decent frame rate, it would certainly make a lot of DX shooters happy, since the Canon sensor sucks so bad (in terms of DR, as compared to the Exmor sensors).

When looking to upgrade a couple of years ago I wanted a FF with the same control setup as the 300s I had been using. I was not wanting the 36mpx. of the 800 as I felt I didn't need that much resolution and didn't want to store that much info on my computer. When I looked at the 600 though the controls were set up like the D90 and 7000 series cameras so I did go with the 800. I think there is enough interest out there that if Nikon were to produce a 400 set up like the 300 and 800 series cameras it would be extremely popular. (provided the cost was not too great).
