First shot is the Sunset and the clouds to the Northwest. 16mm, 1/2000 sec, ISO 200, f/2.8. Boy did I get luck. The long drive to the Mountain paid off.
The second shot is the Milky Way and no that is not a Sunset it is Los Angeles. 16mm, 25 sec, ISO 200, f/2.8.
The third shot is the Milky Way almost straight up, angled slightly to the South. 16mm, 41 sec, ISO 640, f/2.8.
The fourth shot is Scorpio and The Teapot (Sagittarius). Can you find them, look close in the Download. 16mm, 45 sec, ISO 320, f/2.8.
All 4 were processed in Lightroom and #3 in Topaz Detail3 also.
Great shots Craig! And just in case someone can't answer Craig's question regarding image #4, here is a clue. And I find I can see the constellations better before I download as there are fewer stars shown and the boundaries are more pronounced.
I am using the astronomy package "Starry Night Pro" to produce this picture.
I don't have the luxury of seeing these constellations from my backyard. They are below my treeline. In fact I don't get much lower than Altair.

Thank you Jim that is a great clue, everyone should find them now.
Beautiful shots Craig!
It's amazing how much light pollution there is from LA!
I had similar "sunset" shots from Trona facing South ;-/

Gorgeous sunset, and lovely rich colours in the Milky Way in #2 and #3. Well done.

Really gorgeous shots, Craig!
I was wondering how your excursion went.
Yep, tons of HPS (High Pressure Sodium), LPS (Low Pressure Sodium), and assorted other light pollution from LA.
"My" spot up the canyon has interesting light pollution from 3 sides, but is in a bowl of brush. (If it isn't on fire right now...)
I might drive up and do an all night shoot one night with my camera, while I play among the stars with the telescope, then sleep in the bed of the truck while the camera clicks away.
Sneaky, sneaky... ;)

Sounds great Sonny and thank you for the high compliments.
Light pollution is not really a big problem up on Mt Figueroa.
Just LA a little to the South East.

Actually, it can add to the shot. (Light Pollution)
Much as did the Enterprise going to warp 8 did in one of my Milky Way shots.
Not all light pollution is a bad thing. It depends on how it can be composed into the frame. ;)
Very nice shots Craig.
I see a meteor in the second shot to the left and midway down.
As to your sunset, I see and raise you one.
Well done.
