Costco is selling Dell computers with windows 7. Is that the Better choice or is it windows 10?
Also any comments on anti virus programs. I think Comcast will give Norton free.
When you get something free, you get what you pay for. Experts that I know don't think that Norton offers good security. Since I have been using ESET Smart Security, I have had no issues whatsoever and that's been more than two years. My computer geek is about to update my Windows 8 to Windows 10. I wouldn't go with 7 because it will be way out of date before you know it.

Windows 7 is upgrade-able for free to Windows 10. I would be more worried about the speed, ram, hard disk space etc.

If I was looking to purchase a new computer now and this one is the best choice, I would get it and upgrade it to Windows 10. Being a new very clean system (other than the junk that manufacturers put on their new machines), it should upgrade easily and without too much trouble. I would do the upgrade before installing anything else.
When I was with Comcast I used their free offer of Norton and was pleased with it. A decade ago, it was dog slow. It had improved a lot over the years.

I'd go with Windows 10, new anti hacking stuff, probably newer hardware, personally no Dells, prefer HP or Toshiba, but that's personal, we use McAfee AV, part of the ISP service. Bob.
I would go with a Win 10 machine and download AVG anti-
virus on it. Norton is way to intrusive and will bog your PC
down, stay away from it.
My thoughts are that if you can find a computer with 10 already installed, it will save you from the trouble(and pain for some) of having to do the upgrade yourself.
I'm not sure if I'd buy a Dell though. Traditionally, they have so much junk loaded on their computers that it slows you down.
My custom dual-core 2.4 system ran circles around my mother's quad-core 3.0 Dell.
If you go with the Windows 7 Just do a clean install. It will get ride of all there stuff and will only have what you put it. IOS - you will need a 4 gig or better USB drive to store the program on. And go the SYS in the control Panel and right down the Product code, should be a 25 digit code for windows.
Then again as mentioned, DELL did put some pretty units out there. Don't know if they still are. But if the price is right.
Last DELL I had would get so hot. It put a burn mark in the couch cushion when my wife set it down to do something.
Two questions, Wall:
What are the computer's spec's?
What is the price?
I just purchased a Dell XPS 13 and it came with W7 but on the 29th it upgraded to W10. I bought it from the Microsoft Store. The reason is when you buy from the MS you get a clean install. No bloatware.
I would look at the pc and see how much bloatware is on it before I purchase it because all that added junk can really slow a pc.

if there selling win 7 on a computer, its alittle out dated...
Start with 7 & upgrade to 10 for free when it's available for download on your new computer. Norton is a solid product.

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 last week. I have a 4 year old Acer computer. Windows 10 works well. A few small bugs that are tolerable. If the Costco computer is a really good price I'd buy and upgrade. It's not hard!! I've used Microsoft's Windows Defender for 3 years with no problems. It's free and installed easily.
Windows 10 is smaller & lighter than 7 I freed up 15 gigs of space on my HDD by upgrading.
