I have an EOS Rebel and the disk that came with it. I had to go to Canon's website and download an up to date driver. Had no more problems. Good Luck

I loaded EOS utilities on win 8.
I upgradeded to win 10.
I plug in the usb cable and turn on camera. USB asks me what i want.
I tell the USB prompt to ignore me and take no action.
I select EOS utilities and everything works correctly.

i have a canon t5 and tried to install the software from canon's web site. it detected windows 10 and said it wasn't compatible with it. so I clicked on the part that said windows 10 and scrolled down to windows 7 64bit and started the download. no problem then

Yes, could not find from my D3100. Had MS check all USB ports, defaulted to PSE13 for photos, bought a reader, as suggested by some Hogs and no problem since. Tony

I see the same thing. My Canon software disappeared when I upgraded to Windows 10. Can't even find the executables on the hard drive. Not only the drivers are gone, but the photo-stitch and Digital Photo Professional are gone too. I suspect the windows 8.1 versions would work when downloaded, but curious as to why it would be un-installed.

A friend and I have been "testing" Win10. Last week it went bonkers. Can't get back to his Start screen, all the hidden icons and the ones in his toolbar vanished and his desktop screen keeps flashing like a neon sign. All we did was plug in a flashdrive that I use everyday to look at some Excel files and open a photo editor he had on his machine to look at some photos. He ran Malwarebytes and I ran Win Defender/Essentials to check our machines, software and internal/external drives/storage media. Neither of us got any hits, so it's either a virus we haven't seen before and neither Malwarebytes nor Win Defender/Essentials has in their lists or something in the PP software triggered a meltdown. Never did feel comfortable using/buying anything, including software, new car models, etc., the 1st time it was offered to the public. This just confirms my fears...

There are many possible reasons for this.

I am using a dual boot machine to allow testing before committing to a full W10 upgrade. So far I am extremely surprised how clean everything is, and how few problems I have discovered....

EOS utility was seamless...

I don't know, I never download from the camera. The card readers in mycomputers are so much faster and more reliable. And they don't need any non-standard drivers to bog my systems down with.

There are some mechanical issues you might consider.
The plating on card and socket is rated at a few hundred insertions.
Not only do you risk a bent pin or cracked card but you also risk exceeding the available 'good' contacts that can be made and could render a card/ camera useless in a year.
