Lots and lots of stars

I was playing with my Sony A6000 and an older 50mm Minolta Rokkor F1.4 lens. I am aimed just to the south of Deneb which is an area in which there are lots of stars. This is a 4 sec shot at ISO 1600. I treated noise in DxO Prime and then adjusted a bit in Lightroom.

You can see that this lens tends to bloom with brighter stars. Now these are not real bright stars in that the area to the south of Deneb, and has a sprinkling of medium stars, which in this image look really bright and are blooming. This is a function of the lens, particularly the coating.

One thing I notice using a F1.4 lens is how many stars I see on the LCD.

Make sure to download. There are so many stars that the preview looks out of focus. Its not. If its clear tonight, perhaps I will try the same shot with a better lens.

Hey Jim, Check out this article I ran across.

Good article. I still drool over the A7S, but certainly can't justify smashing open my piggy bank to buy one.

The 2nd generation A7S should be out very soon. Will be interesting to see if there is a glut of used models.

The right time and deal will come along and pry open your purse one day. It is inevitable...

I think I feel a very strong pull to the dark side....

I tend to look at the guts of things. Just my analytical brain.
If the >this and that's< are going to use Sony sensors, why not just buy a Sony camera?
And going mirrorless also makes sense to me. Less parts is less to go wrong.
Help! I'm sliding over the edge! ;)

I bet that Pacheco dude gets arthritis in his finger. :-P 200,000 exposures a year!

Can you ID any of those stars for a reference as to where and what we're seeing and which way is north? Tanx!

I have to try my 35 1.8. I took a couple of moonlight shots when I was at the beach from the balcony and they looked like daylight. When I hiked out into the dunes for the other night shots, I left it on the table in the room. Arrrgh. Probably a good thing though. Pitch black, lotsa sand, cold fingers, lotsa sand...

I could ID the stars if I carefully compared to a star chart such as in the SW App called StarryNight. My notes tell me I was a bit to the south of Deneb.
