Any one have suggestions on the sigma or altura ttl flash to go on a Nikon d5200? which one is better? Thanks for suggestions.
I have recently researched many flashes and have looked at both of those manufacturers. I'm sorry to say that I don't have any hands on experience with either of them. The flash that I did finally choose (I have several of them now) is the Yongnuo 565 EX N for my Nikon cameras. Here is a link if you want to consider one. It has been an excellent flash for my amateur needs. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1110994-REG/yongnuo_yn_565ex_n_speedlite_for.html
I purchased the Altura two flash deal and have zero problems, they came with triggers and remote. Have used them with umbrellas and several times as back lighting. I would buy them again.
Here is a thread tailored for macro-photography use of common speedlights. All of the basic information can be used to compare speedlights for more typical use: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-208134-1.html
I have a D5200 and for over a year have used the Sunpak PZ42X successfully. Has manual and TTL, 1-1/64 power, etc., has controls on a digital screen, have used it with wizards at studios, I think I paid $125 for it new. It lit up a whole dark church once! And can be used as a weak fill flash outside. It rates as powerful as most others.

The trigger that came with these flashes is manual isn't it?
Not sure what you mean by manual.. I have used it several ways.
The trigger plugs into the camera, and will fire the camera, and the flashes. If that is what your asking.
You also should be able to fire any of them off camera using the on-camera flash. Nikon has a $15 cover that allows covering the on-camera flash but let's bounce light activate the off-camera flash.
My SB700 works full iTTL that way.
The NEEWER Speedlite 750II I got my wife also works off camera...but I think manual off camera. Otherwise TTL. It is a powerful inexpensive unit that works fine. She uses it with a D5300.
