One of the easiest dives on the Big Island, Mahukona isn't really a big 'fish' dive, but it is easy and fun. It is the only shore dive with a 'wreck'. You can see in the Panorama the engine (yea, I didn't mean to cut the top off, I'm not sure how I did that - I swear I had it well framed in the view.) Look at the far end of the engine block and you'll see the shaft leading out to the 8foot propeller. The nudibranch was the largest of his species that I've ever seen. He was at least as big as the average man's hand. Really cool find.

I agree about the fried egg .... won't try to say it or read it. It's really pretty though.

Everyone says that about going to Hawaii, but I do a lot of on-line searching to the point of independent travel agent for us. You'd be surprised at some of the deals you can catch. One tip, NEVER hire a travel agent. (Hope I didn't step on any toes) but the first time I did it costs twice as much. After that I made it my business to learn how to go anywhere on a budget. :D ;)

I agree, second time I went to Honduras was with the local scuba shop there were around 20 people that went, most had already paid for the trip in full, myself included.two weeks before we were set to go I got a letter from scuba shop saying the travel agent closed shop and took off,I had to pay for the trip again to be able to go,along with 15 other people.....I think in all it totaled about $17,000 that they had taken, none of us has seen money come back, and probably never will

Wow!! Maybe I do need to become a legit travel agent. Just kidding, that's awful. Seems like someone could have done something. I can get you to Hawaii and back to Honduras with spending money left over. (just kidding, I don't know what I could do for all that) I do know I went to England and back for a lot less. Well, just be careful with that kind of stuff. I'm one to talk though since that first trip to Hawaii about did away with my frequent travel. It will set you back.
I just put up a few of that puffer fish I was talking about. I should have repeated that the puffer was my husband's shot because the fish liked his camera more than mine. :-)
Scoobadoo,
The dive shop was running the trip, you did not pay for it through them? I used to own Scuba Divine in Brooklyn NY, I ran trips all over the world and collected the money from all who wanted to participate. Depending on the trip and how many were going there were price breaks for every 3, 5, 10 etc, all of this was passed on to the customer. Very strange to have you pay again. Get all those people together and start a dive club that travels together. Then contact me I can put you in touch with some wholesalers

George, yea not really sure how all that works with the dive shop? It was my first trip going with them,I paid for my trip at the shop and thought it all good, untill we were about 2weeks out then I got a letter from him( dive shop) saying they closed the doors on the travel agent?i just figured that the shop did all . But anyway he said he felt bad because so many people had lost out on the money that he went to the bank to see about a loan so we would not have to pay again but they wouldn't give him one ,too much to borrow on a personal loan I guess?it all sounded pretty fishy to to me,but just come to terms I wouldn't see that money again.i have been on two other trips with them since,I just pay deposit now and wait till last minute to pay the rest, just in case.
