Well, I blew this one, but must get in three more, as they are some of the best!
I did read all of your info on the shot. Thanks, I just can't seem to be able to get that close. Your 150-600 looks very well tuned in and is working for you!

One thing that really helped RRS was that I managed to take the latter captures using the tripod which allowed me to decrease the shutter speed which helped with the fairly low light condition.
I was using the lens on a Nikon D7100 crop camera so my equivalent distance setting was 600mm times 1.5 or 900mm. I could have used another built in crop factor of 1.4, featured on the camera, but chose not to. I have not had my 150-600 lens tuned, but have considered it, after seeing some great results of others using it. My longest lens before the Tamron was a Nikon DX 55-300 and some really good captures by my standards were made using it, but when longer distance are involved, longer reach really helps, and since there are more reasonable priced longer reaching lens are now on the market, I believe that I can see considerable improvement in the quality of wildlife captures on UHH.

I loved all three sets, Corkie. Shame the earlier pics weren't downloadable, as these are superb on download.

Yes, the little owl certainly was, Sylvia, and I really enjoyed the session! Thank you very much for your very kind words and the two thumbs up, and really value your opinion. Take care!

Thanks Earl, I intended that all would have downloads, but panicked and blew it! Still not sure why I could not send all together---have very little experience at sending more than three at a time , but tried it on the six set of Prothonotary Warblers and seemed to work OK. Will try to send you the first three or four and hope it works

Much better. Downloading really does bring out the detail.
This guy looks like a professor I had once! 😂
