Or...perhaps this is actually NOT a geopolitical statement...just a celebration of survival of the fittest...but then again....????!

Geopolitics? biology? ???????

Could almost pass for an abstract painting!

I don't quite get the connection with the city of Munich. If you are referring to urban sprawl, that city has, for its size, relatively little of it; I lived most of my youth only an hour away, and there was mostly peaceful farmland between.

Sorry...if one buys into a geopolitical thrust to the title it is an allusion to the Munich Accords of 1938 when Britain's Mitterand gave into The Nazi's demands for "Lebensraum" at the expense of Czech territory... as the price for putative "Peace in our time!".
On the other hand this image could be seen as illustrating a purely biological imperative for " living room".

Personally, I just like it simply as an image of pleasing proportions, textures, and hues, saturations, and luminances.

Or, as I've heard..."it all depends on how y'' looks at it!"

Yes, I can imagine a map of divisions. Reminiscent of the map as it looked following WWI with the divisions and punitive assignment of lands to the winners - which led to and affirmed the rise of Adolph Hitler. When will people ever learn?

As a biological photograph it leads me to wonder at the diversity of life even in the simplest of life forms. I love the colours and their placement. (Selection of the frame.)

Great! If it's sharp enough 'twould be worthy of a large printing.

Jim

P.S. How does one tag into this section since it isn't listed on the "home" page? I think I have missed some postings. I would not have known about this one unless you told me about it.

If I had thought you weren't aware of "FYC" I would have invited you long before this...you'll find a bunch of familiar names and some interesting new ones there!

Actually...I checked and you've already posed a number of images here!
Anyway...glad you're aboard!

Sharp eye, Mike
Darn; didn't think y'all'd pick up on Bayern pre-consolidation! That the southern border of Schleswig-Holstein in flux was probably confusing to the casual observer!

I just thought this was a picture of some left over pizza from the fridge.

Dave you must have some English blood running through your veins! You reply to Frank was just pure English humour and had me choking on my toast.
Ya pictures fine but the funnies are even better!
Greetings from a warm and sunny UK

You scored extra points for NOT asking "is this art" lol. Desperately hoping that particular beast has keeled over. Poor thing died from being flogged to death!!

Only choked on your toast? i'd'a hoped maybe y' blew a bit of coffee out our nose as well! Glad my attempt at levity found a receptive neuron or two!
As for the "is it art?" bandwagon... I've long since had my concise say on the matter and try mightily not to repeat it more than twice in a year's time.

And as long as I have your attention, I ought say that I'm by no small means impressed with your manner of employing your new pentacular thing! A new billy emerges upon the scene!

Lebensraum, the term used by Hitler to justify his conquests in Europe (not that he felt he had to justify himself...megalomaniac, you know). I don't know enough about biology to identify any of these species as being invasive and pushing the native species out. Still a nice image that has great texture and nice colors. Interesting. I like.

Hi, Erich, If you have a chance to periodically examine a similar diversity of lichens it's amazing and fascinating to observe the "shape-shifting" that goes on among the tightly adjacent populations. Successive invasions, sequential colonizations, as well as the occasional re-occupations of previously held territory that characterize the map of their monolithic world cannot help but evoke thoughts -at least by me - of the multiply-morphed map of Eastern and Western Europe for the past millennium.
Thanks, Erich, for your visit and comments.
