A couple months ago, I was having breakfast in a nearby restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, DE. A gentleman was seated next to my table speaking with the owner of the establishment. I noticed the man spoke with an English accent so I struck up a conversation with him. He asked if I noticed the old boat in the yard of a home down the road about a half mile. I said yes and I just loved that old boat. It was very interesting to me. He commenced to tell me that it was his boat and he sailed it from the UK in 1983 to Delaware and he and the boat has been here ever since. We finished our conversation as his breakfast arrived. He later told me the boat is not salvageable in its present state and he will eventually have it torn up and disposed of.
It was then I made a mental note to try to get some pictures of that boat before it's hauled off.
So, have a look and I hope you too find it interesting.

Very nice!! I sure hope that there is some way that some one can come up with something other than demolition . . .

Nice pics of a former beauty, too bad it was left to deteriorate. It must have some real stories to tell.

Unfortunately, the owner said it's just too far gone to be restored. Thanks for looking.

It looks like the wood used for the lapping was mahogany, they used copper nails (looks like for lack for rust stains) I thinks that it could be salvageable. It would be a lot of work but to somebody that has a lot of time the structure seem to be in pretty good shape for refit.I see that the stern post need to be replaced ,at least part of it same as the bow sprint. It certainly needs re-pinting and leading. What a shame to demolish it.

I agree. Heck, even if someone could put it into a backyard to use as a guest house, a kid's play house, - - anything above demolishing it . . .

Is it also a sail boat?

If it is 'just' a power boat, how did he 'motor' from UK to USA on 1 tank of fuel?

Great pix & a GREATER story! I agree, such a shame to demo it!

Yes. I did see a small pile of copper fasteners on the ground and it was all green like copper would get from exposure.
Thanks for looking, tusketwedge.
