Dropbox seems to be on every device. Is this a good place to store photos -- anyone using it instead of the various CLOUDs?

I actually use it quite a bit, especially as a staging area to drop a large-resolution image file (.tiff or .psd) that is too large to send as an email attachment. Dropbox will then let you generate a connection string which you can email to someone else, they are given access to the folder, and they can download the photo on their end. I have also stored several photo galleries in Dropbox. The Drag and Drop features works exactly as advertised ..... it's a very good way to share lots of photos or large files.

It works, and is useful, what makes you think that it isn't a cloud service?
I use Dropbox to transfer files between desktop computer and ipad, especially photos and various document files, including ebooks.

Depending on one's needs, there are many, many times that a document/spreadsheet/image needs to be available, regardless of where you are or what device you have available. Or, that document/spreadsheet/image needs to be shared with someone not in your immediate vicinity. This list continues, but suffice it to say, I use DropBox every day for one reason or another.
As it pertains to photography, it is extremely helpful when (as an example) I take many photos at a family reunion and everyone wants a copy. After processing in Lightroom, I export them as small JPGs to a folder (inside the photos folder) of DropBox, then go to the site and grab a link to those photos. I email/text that link to the folks that wanted copies and I'm done.
It works extremely well for me. Better than any of the others I've tried from Adobe, Google, Microsoft, etc.
I could set up "sharing" between my desktop, laptop and notebook, and my husband's laptop.
But so much easier to have Dropbox. I can store documents there that I'm currently working on, and use them on any computer I have access to.
My brother and I have a shared folder on Dropbox - easiest way to share photos.
All that for the free part of the program. I believe it is 2GB. Although I just got a message that my free subscription is running out and as a "Thank you" I'll get up to 6GB space.
I have been more than satisfied with using Dropbox. Have to look for the cost of more space, I may even be persuaded to buy more space, it really is convenient...
I meant OTHER cloud services

Interesting... I have 2GB free indefinitely. Not sure why yours expires. Below are the plans available to me. Are they different for you? $9.99/mo for 1TB is a little spendy for me. I think the "Business" option is better for raw image backups, since I easily have over 1TB of data now. Just curious why you have a 6GB option. Hmmm...
I use my dropbox to keep files sync'd between my 2 photo computers. I actually just uprated to the $9.99 a month for 10gb program-figured I'd use the money from quitting Adobe CC for something that was more usefull. It is absolutely a great way to send large files, of any kind. For absolute storage, I still put everything on a couple of different portable HDD's.

Okay... now I'm even more confused. You upgraded to 10GB for $9.99/mo? Is everyone getting different plans offered to them?

Oh, it's not the 2GB that's expiring, its the 48 GB I got (and never used), when besides installing DropBox on my desktop, I also installed it on my tablet, laptop and my husband's laptop.

I'm sorry, Irm, I certainly didn't read that in your original question: You asked who was using DropBox - which also is a cloud service. I am, and then also explained a bit of why.
I use drop box , mainly to have somewhere to transfer my I phone pictures off my phone, so I can delete the pictures to make more room on my phone. I don't like how the I tunes/Icloud thing works . It's too much of a pain, and complicated for me. Although I do love having apple devices, over the google/android devices. Sometimes I will use drop box for quick sharing of photos, as well.
