Interesting problems downloading Win 10

Maybe some ideas from you computer guru's?

I downloaded Win 10 on all three of my laptops. Two, one Win 7 and one Win 8.1, downloaded and run just fine. The other, also running 8.1, crashes in the middle of the download. In the middle section of the download, the one that shows "installing features and drivers" it freezes at exactly 6% of the download of this section. (32% of the total download) I have tried it 4 times, one even using an Ethernet wire, and the results are exactly the same. Freezes at the 6% point. Once it freezes I can only get out of the screen by using a forced power button shutdown.

Now, when I try running Win 8.1 on the computer it drives me crazy trying install an update which ends up being the entire Windows 10 download. So two questions:

1) any idea how I can overcome the freeze at the 6% point?
2) how can I stop the computer from trying to install Win 10 under the updates feature?

Thanks.

HI Insman ,

Not exactly sure what your computer's problem is , but my thought on the first question is that you maybe need to run a checkdisk before installing win10. Also , if you have lot's of peripharals, try disconnecting them while installing win 10.
If you have some agressive antivirus and malware protection, you should consider disabling while upgrading.

2. I was one of them who skipped Windows 8 and 8.1 so i can't pin point how to turn off Windows updates. I allways go manually into Services and deactivate windows Update service.
Start - Run - (type in: services.msc and press enter)
This will open a windows and on the right side you will see a list of all the services on your computer. Scroll down until you find Windows Update. Doubleclick on it and choose disable from the drop down.

or you can look into this link which describes deactivating windows update.

Are you trying to upgrade? You could try this other methos.
Instead of using the windows update to install win 10, download the media tool creator and make an USB stick conataining the windows installasjon and it's also bootable.

If upgrading is not important for you , i would suggest to backup ur personal stuff and try a clean install with the usb stick.

Hope it helps on your way
