Deck Pepper

Bought a Pepper "tree" at Sams Club a couple of years ago, and it had the hottest peppers ever, even though the label on the plant indicated a mild pepper. Saved the seeds and my wife, the one with the green thumb, planted them last winter and after several attempts to kill them, she finally got a couple to go. These are on my deck, my favorite photo studio.

These don't look exactly like the originals, although at least one is curling like the originals. Fingers crossed they are the hottest peppers, ever.

Even if the peppers are not hot enough for you, you will have a pretty, healthy plant with great color.

Thanks Fergus. It does have nice color. I was out yesterday and the sun was perfect, colors amazing. Went in to get my camera, sat at the PC for delete old files from my SD camera card, got waylaid on UHH a bit, and went out, and the sun was behind a cloud... Still came out ok but I was a little miffed I missed that little window. Probable would have made no difference but you never know.

Thanks simon, they do look a little hot, I like hot...

The original plant, my wife made some hot jelly out of them. She screwed up something and it didn't jell. She dipped in a spoon for me to taste, and the jelly burn't my lips, YES I thought. She redid the stuff so it was jelly and it was... good, but just a bit spicy. Hopefully these will turn out hot as heck. Some like it hot.

Thanks merrytexan. Considering what all it's been through, it sure did come out nice. She really did try to kill all the little seed, only a couple survived, survival of the fittest I reckon. Hopefully will be "peppers with attitude"...

BigDaddy, Don't know if they are hot or not, but if you want to get some that are REALLY HOT, try to find some GHOST PEPPERS. They have a schofeld(?)SU of over 1 millon units. Then there are some even hotter.
Look up scorpion peppers and see what they are rated..ok? Just thought I'd give you a 'headsup' on these peppers. I think both are available on-line, too.

Thanks hswader. These ghost peppers almost look like the original ones these were seeded from. I remember looking all over the web when ours were growing, and found a few matches, and one was supposedly the hottest pepper on earth. This was like a year ago, and I recall several peppers claiming to be the hottest.

Heck, I found a picture of the original plant, it was taken 12/29/13. All I know is the orignals were really hot. I remember thinking whomever sold them to Sam's club as a mild pepper must have mis-labled them.

Aren't they the neatest? I photographed some at a store last year; they really make a wonderful subject, and you're are great, BigDaddy!

Thanks much Sue.

I have a bunch of photo's of peppers over the years, and they do make good subjects, with really vivid colors. I have enough to give them a keyword category of their own, Flora-Veggies-peppers.
