Anyone have any issues with using 64g cards in a D7100 or problems with transferring to a computer. Win 7 is the op sys.

I had 2 64gb cards in mine for a recent vacation and they worked flawlessly. Over 2000 images (RAW and JPEG (2000 of each)) and still had a few left when I got home. Get good ones. I used SanDisk.

Bigger is always better but faster is must also be considered. Check with your camera manual. The newest cards have a transfer rate of 280 MB/sec. Many cards are at 80 and 90 MB/sec.

Wow, I thought my cards at 80mb/sec were among the fastest. Learned something here. Bet those 280mb/sec cards are pricey! 80mb/sec works pretty well for BIF shooting with my D7100 but will upgrade eventually. I use all 32G cards with no issues. Never used a 64G card but am listening with interest.

Is not the main difference between the SDHC and SDXC cards the file writing speed, with the XC being the faster. The SD card package usually gives only the Read speed and will say writing is slower. It seems to me that it is high time that we card users start to pester the manufacturers. We could start by panning those cards that write at slug speed.

You shouldn't have any problems using the 64card since all popular dSLR's will except that size. Be sure it's at least 60MB/s or you might get bord waiting to complete the download. Faster is always better!

If available, USB 3.0.

Go with genuine SanDisk!

Willie,

I have not heard of any problems using the 64Gb, or 32Gb cards in camera slots. As long as you take care in how you transfer images from camera to computer; use the USB interface cable available for your camera.

I have seen dozens of Canon digital camera fail after 4 months of use when the cards were removed from camera, inserted into card readers, and then inserted back into the camera. Contact pins inside the camera became bent, or broken, and some card contacts scored.

Willie, br br I have not heard of any problems us... (show quote)

Both my 1DIV and 5D3 have Lexar 64 gigabyte 160 mb/s cards without a SINGLE failure. It's seldom the machine and often the operator :)
