Here are a few shots of the most recent nest of baby Mockingbirds. I believe this is the third or fourth group of babies for the pair this year. As soon as one group can fly and hunt insects on their own, they are sent packing. When they leave, Mom and Dad build a new nest just a few yards away from the old one.
Mom (or Dad) was not very happy about today's photo session. I was reminded several times by the flutter of wings buzzing my neck that I had not obtained the appropriate Mockingbird model release forms. The fledglings took the session in stride. They sat very still, secure in the knowledge that they were indeed invisible.

Great shots! I love these birds with their beautiful songs. I could listen to them all day long. You really captured something we don't usually get to see!
Great captures Rick - simply awesome.
Of course you'll probably hear from their legal team regarding unauthorized photos of the babies ... but bribe 'em with food and I'm certain they'll go away :)
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Pinkycat
Yes, they sing a good bit when they're not busy with the babies. Or, when not chasing away any other bird that flies too close to their claimed airspace.
The noises they doing those tasks is not nearly as pleasant. :)

Thanks Tom,
I have photographed several groups of their young, causing no harm to any. I have even chased away a Hawk as it tried to get at two earlier fledglings this year. Mom and Dad still get upset when I get too near.
As a peace offering and compensation for any undue emotional distress, I scattered a handful of meal worms nearby. Maybe, we'll be good for awhile. :)
