Has anyone here.............
Has anyone here used the new Costco ink refill program?? They have just started to do refill's at the Matthews NC store where I shop.
Any good?? Worth it?? Or better to stick with the brand names replacements???
Hummmmm.... Agonna haf ta check that out...
It's better to stick to the manufactures cartages.
Refills are not the same ink the manufactures use.

Hmmmmm just woke up and looking at my replies...seeing double here this morning...............lol
I have been using Costco refills ($7.99@) for a Canon MX880 printer. It takes 4 225 cartridges and 1 226 cartridge. To refill all just shy of $40. That saves $8 over new Canon replacements. Not a real biggie but .... I have refilled 3 times now with no problem whatsoever.
Let me alert you however to potential problems with refills. Several manufacturers are now including code in update downloads which will prevent your printer from recognizing other than the brand replacements. My advice. Do not download updates for your printer. Most of the updates will do absolutely nothing to improve performance anyway and may limit your ability to use refills. I had that happen with an HP. Refills worked fine until I got suckered into a "security and improvement update". That put an end to refill usability.
I have tried a number of refill services over the years (but not Costco's). Often, I would have to run the "Clean print head" function so many times after installing a refilled cartridge that I used up half the toner.
THAT sounds like a printer problem to me.....
I was doing the math and it really does not make much of a difference price wise.Probably best to stick with the manufacturer's brand. Altough the wife think's it's a great deal even tho it's only a couple of $$. Gee I wonder who well win this battle??? lol

I have an HP printer and yes, there have been some updates to download. I can still use remanufactured carteriges but don't get the information on ink levels any more. I think I'll delete the "updated" program and reinstall the program from the disk that came with the printer. Thanks fro the Heads up on this one
Nicelights: I firmly believe the change is not in the program but in your registry and there are registry entries in all of the keys. Best to leave it alone as long as it recognizes that there is a cartridge present. If it refuses to do that it will give you a message stating, "unrecognized cartridge" from that point on you are screwed. You might try restoring your system to a date prior to your update being installed with the windows system restore feature. That MAY work. Good Luck
my old lexmark i would buy the bottles of color use a syringe to refill an buy bottle scripto black somtimes blue. seemed to work fine.
