I've used PS for a few years now and the CC version for a year or so. I'm not sure what the price point would be for me to cancel. I do believe it's good value at 10$ per month. Used effectively I believe it can replace a lot of hardware-filters etc.

Meant that to be rhetorical.

CS6 is what I use but not exclusively. To me its like swatting flies with a 2x4.

I don't need or use most of the features. Even at $10/month its not worth it.

That's what I thought at first, now I am using Muse, Ps, Or, illustrator, premier pro (more and ) besides lightroom. I have dabbled with in design. I need to take a quick course on it to get me up and running. So right now they hooked me. I just need to figure out at what price I have to say enough is enough.

I have had discussion's with people who are in creative business. graphics, stills and videos etc. We always thought Adobe made a selfish decision based on they will need Photoshop, Illustrator, Premeire, After Effects and so on. So we will charge them
$50 US a month. As far as I can see in the US we have no choice. Your are either in or out. I use some of these programs that I think are the best alternative. But the price is steep. And Adobe decided to control the whole marketplace. I admire their invention over the years and give them credit. They are like US cable TV which gives me hundreds of channels I don't need and charges the highest prices in the world. , I don't nee this whole suite of software and the management software of everything I do creatively. As far as i can see their is nothing they offer that would work for me having a few used programs I need at a fair price. This is a one size fits all. They constantly try to download updates that don't download we'll. They constantly send Flash downloads (which I assume they use for checking on our license) use. They don't allow a reasonable number of machines use. I would like at least 3 for my use. They constantly try to download on other computers where I have with no license. They are trying to force me to spend more money. Does anybody have an idea about where this is going. I see major brands even dropbox and Apple trying to run our lives with clouds and constant monitoring and downloads to control us. They are also causes a glut on our machines. I picked no to Dropbox instantly recording any shots or video when launched. Yesterday had rush of footage stills I needed to get out. Dropbox started downloading and it wouldn't stop. I think this is the future.

The cloud is, in general, a rip off. I have the downloaded versions of LR and PS and they are more than sufficient for my needs. Historically I would upgrade every third of so version. It was much cheaper. This will be going the way cable prices have been going (UP UP UP) with minimal incremental value.
The same goes for saving data in the "cloud". It's just a backup disk somewhere else. For $125 I can get a 5TB disk to save everything I can imagine. The cost for that in the cloud would be astronomical.

Sounds like someone might be getting ready to jack up the prices. I also bet .....

Correct. There is no question they are going to raise prices. How many users they lose at each step up the price ladder depends on how fast the competition improves their products.

I have received an email from a survey company which starts as follows:

"Adobe Systems Incorporated has asked International Planning and Research in partnership with Questback to conduct a study regarding Adobe Creative Cloud Subscription options. The survey should take about 15-20 minutes to complete."

As I got well into the survey, the tone changed from the usual how do you find things to "If the price goes up, will you cancel your subscription and buy a perpetual licence or will you cancel your subscription and use a rival supplier?"

The survey shows the subscription prices - but not the prices I pay now. I presently pay for the Photography Package £8.57 per month including tax. The survey shows £10.00 per month and does not mention tax. All the prices shown indicate an increase in subscription rates starting at 14% (if the prices include tax) or 40% if they do not include tax.

Some or all subscription payers may have received the same email, what do you make of this?
I have received an email from a survey company whi... (show quote)

An on line survey that they say will take 15- 20 minutes, and if they say 20, it's probably more like 30+, are they out of their mind? If a survey that takes that long they are totally discounting your time! There should at least be a month's free subscription for completing the survey if they want that much of your time an expertise.

I've been thinking of getting Lightroom 6, but it will be on a disc, not a download, and no Cloud, thank you very much. :D

I have already decided to try Affinity Photo from Serif. It is a Mac only, but you can buy it and the web page designer for less than 6 months of the Lightroom/Photoshop CC & get free upgrades. They also have PhotoPlus X7 for windows at $99.00.

I subscribed more than a year ago strongly suspecting this is an "introductory" price. The shrewd execs at Adobe know there is a sharp learning curve for PS and LR, and that after a year or two of investing so much time learning the programs, most reasonable people would pay a little more rather than walk away - essentially having wasted all of that time learning.

Amen to this. PE 13 and others will do adequately for a fixed price and only need updating every few years. Photoshop is an overkill for photography work and is for pros and graphic designers. Photoshop does not make you a better photographer and if you really need it, you should probably educate yourself to be a better photographer. OUCH!

I would respectfully disagree. I'd submit that the quality of phototography today, generally speaking, is a product of better equipment and software and not a general improvement in the ability or training of photographers. In my case however, I lack both the ablity and the technical know how😞

The " cloud is in Disneyland with a subscription fee for >20GB and the only "cloud library" option is "import all photos into cloud library" which increases costs and seems like a self serving option. I don't use the "cloud"; I use an external SSD storage drive from Seagate.
