If you are ever in the Mendocino Ft. Bragg area, the Mendocino Gardens are a beautiful oasis on the highway.

Thanks. Ft. Bragg is 15 minutes north of Mendocino. They are about 3 hours north of San Francisco. Mendocino is a small town on the Pacific, very walkable with nice shops and restaurants.

The Dahlia is spectacular! I've been there many times in the past. Perhaps it's time to again. Thanks for sharing your images.

Thank you. You may remember they have a great dahlia area in the gardens.

Talk about a showy flower! A beauty. Not too far from the garlic capital of the world. Can almost taste it.

Thanks, it was a great time to be there, September, seemed like everything was in peak bloom.

Ft. Bragg, CA does not have a military pedigree but it is the home of North Coast Brewery and Glass Beach; you won't find them in a Tom Clancy book.

After you ride the Skunk Train, head south.
Just south of Mendocino is Van Damme State Park.
Inside this park is another hidden treasure, the Pygmy Forest.

I hiked the Pygmy forest when I was there but didn't do the Skunk Train, thanks for the tip.
