Yesterday the Sigma 600mm lens was in stock, today they are on back order. Good thing I ordered yesterday. As soon as I get it I can compare with the Tamron.

That's because Sigma is only shipping these to dealers one at a time.

Are you talking about a Sigma prime lens or is this the 150-600mm lens? The reason I ask is I could not find a Sigma 600mm prime on a web search.

I bought one of these at my local camera shop in April. They had more than one so I didn't have to wait.

Did you get the contemporary or sport? I tried the Tamron 150-600mm but found it no better than my Sigma 150-500mm in fact I think my Sigma was better. Next week I will get my grand-daughters to look at the pictures with their young eyes. Mine are getting a little old. I also think the Tamron was soft over 500mm like others have stated. I sent the Tamron back and have been waiting for the Sigma. I wish they would cancel week ends when I order something.

I got the Sports version and it took 3 months to get it from B&H, however the wait was well worth it. My sigma worked perfectly from day one with tack sharp images on my D810. I had the Sigma 50-500mm and the 150-500mm and at the top end 500mm could never get clear images out of them even tried AF fine tune without any results. The 150-600mm is a great lens giving me excellent results that I never got with the other two Sigma lenses.

I have the contemporary. Didn't need the water-proofing or the little faster speed. Didn't want to spend that much more money. Very satisfied with the contemporary. The sport also weighs more.

I look forward to your feedback on the Sigma150-600mm.
I shoot with a 70D crop sensor and just got one of the last Sigma 150-500mm for $400 less than the new 150-600....as it appears to be discontinued in favor of the one you are waiting for
So far I am extremely happy...Hope you will be too..

Your lucky to have a camera store near by. Closest for me is over 200 miles unless you consider some of the big box stores as camera stores. Ordering from the east shipping is fast but from the west not so good.

I have a Sigma 150-500mm and consider it a very good lens. If I can't get a good picture with it, its me not the camera or lens.

Yes, I'm lucky. I live in the St. Louis area and there are several camera stores within a reasonable driving distance. Big box stores aren't camera stores. They may sell some very nice DSLRs, but not the type of equipment those on UHH would be interested in. They also can't provide the help needed.

If there's no store nearby, you do the next best thing and buy from experts.
