This is a 'demo version' of our new electric bus. My guys are in the process of loading it with enough weight to simulate the max GVW. (46,000 lbs.) (& of course the guys upstairs waited until it was 101 outside) It will be taken on a test run tomorrow morning on one of our regular routes for a 'real world' performance check. We shall see.......

These are made by MAN of Germany and marketed by New Flyer in Minnesota. The ones in San Francisco have supercapaciters instead of battery pack; are propelled by electric motor. Smaller Diesel generator in back runs at high idle most of time. Supercapaciters are good for millions of cycles without deterioration and can fully charge or discharge in three seconds without resistance making them ideal for capturing braking forces and delivering acceleration

Always good to hear about companies that are environmentally concerned and have employees who are also concerned.
AND...it's MADE IN THE USA?

I can't give you enough thumbs up.
Thank you
Uh oh! Did I speak to soon without enough information?

Even if it's not made in the USA, at least it's not made in China.

Man of germany has made stuff for NF in the past but the rolling chassi and body on this bus is made by New Flyer in crookston MN with a Siemens electric drive system. (225 Hp) Man does provide the rear axle.
The Li-Ion batteries are made by Mitsubishi..... It IS all about storage capacity and while supercapacitors are a viable option, their limited capacity and high cost still have them lagging behind the latest battery tec. http://berc.berkeley.edu/storage-wars-batteries-vs-supercapacitors/ That being said it would not take much for them to take the lead. Their life expectancy is dramatically better. This bus also has a pantograph system on the roof to allow it to connect to on-route charging stations.......

We don't have a specific figure on this bus because it is basically a test vehicle.
