Walter Palmer a dentist from Minnesota kills Cecil the Lion in Zimbabwe.
Whatever possessed this evil person to murder a lion.
This isn't hunting it's extermination.
I hope he gets the punishment he deserves.

You are exactly correct and from my estimation the group of people that align themselves with the dental mantra are not the brightest people in the world. They seem to only interested in what's in it for me.

Totally agree with all comments - does not deserve to be a member of the human race! I hope the authorities catch up with him and give him his just deserts.

I can't judge people who hunt for food - I buy meat at the store, which means I merely pay someone else to kill the animals I eat.... but killing some poor old lame lion - or anything killed just to satisfy the ego of the killer - is sad and pathetic.

This story has gone viral....world wide. It even featured on tonight's evening TV news in Sydney Australia. If it's true, I have a great idea.

I have up to date dental skills having visited my dentist today for the usual drilling, hammering, filling and other stuff. Whilst there, I got to thinking. I'll rent my dentist's shop for the day - send this jerk over here (I'll pay the airfare if he's now broke from his recent Zimbabwe sojourn) and I'll practice a few dental repair skills on him. I'll even paste an image of a lion on the ceiling for him to contemplate.

Just for fun mind!!

Edit: I would never normally get involved in this type of thread but I'm so bloody angry, disgusted and sad!!

The lion was shot with a bow and arrow but according
to the news report down here, it was not fatal and the lion
was finally fatally shot (with a firearm) by the dentist 40 hours later. :-(

I reckon the dentist needs a few of his teeth extracted...
with a size 10 regulation steel capped safety boot.

This individual has a history of murdering endangered animals for his pathetic jolies, apparently among others a rhino.

He has seen fit to close his business and seek refuge according to the press. I sincerely wish him and his type all the ill fortune and foul diseases they can possibly get.

What point is there in hunting a lion in this day and age? Only some sad blow back with a personality defect could even find this enjoyable. Perhaps hunting would be fairer if those of us that despise it and the people who indulge were allowed to hunt them for our fun. That would be very enjoyable.

I heard that the lion was actually shot by a professional hunter. Then it was beheaded and skinned so that the dentist could have something to hang on his wall. The hunter was arrested and the remains taken for evidence.

There is a lot of confusion as he and the hunters try to blame each other but the consensus is the dentist shot the lion with a crossbow, only wounding it and then 40 hours later finished it off with a rifle. This was after they had lured it out of the reserve area with bait.

I hope both he and the hunters suffer an equally agonising and pointless demise.

Did you now?

According to the British Broadcasting Commission:

Mr Palmer is said to have shot Cecil with a crossbow, injuring the animal. The group didn't find the wounded lion until 40 hours later, when he was shot dead with a gun.

Just had an email from a friend in Harare.

The dentist shot the lion with a crossbow and made a hash of it in poor light. The lion ran off, was left for almost two days while the hunting party tried to find it. The dentist then finished the job with a rifle.

Lots of anger locally as the lion was something of a local celebrity. The local hunters are being charged today and in court, there is a lot of hope they will get a stiff jail term.

As it was put - we get praised for shooting rhino poachers, why the hell should we allow these people to come here and kill our lions?

Looks like charges will be set against the dentist but he seems to have left the country; it is doubted he will want to return.
