Oporto, home of world famous port wines, before the advent of paved roads and truck transportation used to send it's product to market on barges called Barco Rabelos. Today they are just for historic value, color and tourist rides. The big Port houses have a Barcos Race every year but now it is just for bragging rights.

Sailing vessels, port cities, the smell of the sea ..... wonderful stuff, that. It brings back fond memories of places I've visited during 1 20-year Naval career. I only lack 1,500 miles from having circumnavigated the globe, so these waterfront scenes are quite familiar. And intoxicating.

Very nice series. It certainly looks like there are a wealth of photo ops in this area. I enjoyed seeing these. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your look Bob and your comments, like you I served for 20 sat years in the Navy and have many fond memories thereof. Spent seven months cruising the Med but did not get to Portugal. I was on an ocean going Minesweeper at that time so we got to many smaller ports on the continent and some islands.

Thanks Vicksart for viewing and and your very much appreciated comments. Over there next few weeks, while recuperating, I expect to post some photos of the cruise on the Duoro river and some of the towns visited along the way

Thanks for viewing the photos of Oporto Susan, I know what you mean. I was an avid photo enthusiast for a lot of years and then just started doing other things. For the past few years my interest had depressed up again, upgraded my Nikon D40 to a D3300 and just having a great time. I appreciate your look and comment.
