Two recommendations in case you ever get off the computer or put the camera down. I saw a great science documentary from NOVA - "Earth from Space." Using the dozen or more weather satellites we have circling the earth, the show explained the oceans, atmosphere, vegetation, weather, etc. I never knew that Antarctica had so much control over the world's weather. It averages 43° colder than the north pole, and the flow of water from there affects oceans worldwide.

I saw an unusual WW II submarine movie last night on Netflix. "In Enemy Hands," from 2004, shows both U. S. and German subs and their crews. I'll watch just about anything with submarines.

I've seen Das Boot and U-571 several times. If it's available, I've probably seen it. I saw "Action..." years ago. Time for a refresher. Did you ever see "Down Periscope," (1996) with Kelsey Grammer as a sub captain? Lauren Holly was in that, and she was also in "In Enemy Hands."

Right - very good. There was a review that mentioned the fact there was a scene with a fly walking all over the framed picture of Doenitz. I think the review said that scene was cut in Germany, but I could be wrong about that.

There's an update coming.

Yes, I read about that, but never saw the movie. I'll look for it tonight. Well, I guess not. Netflix has nothing beginning with "Sinking." Our library has it, so I ordered it from there.

It stars Matthew Mcconaughey, but it's good, anyway.

I was watching PBS this weekend and had a story about macro satellites. In it the reported that they have 8 weather satellites that are 10,000 lbs. each and not as advanced as a smart phone. This company is proposing macro satellites that weight 71/2 lbs each with more technology then those old satellites that are the size of a small truck.

The Chicago Museum of Science has a captured WWII U-boat that you can walk (stooped over) through. It is pretty fascinating - everything so cramped. When they filmed "Das Boot" I read that the cast lived for 30 days in a mock-up of a real U-boat so that they could fully grasp how life was living in such close quarters. (I wonder if they even "hot-bunked" - where you get your eight hours in the bunk and then the next crew member gets his eight hours... )
