Why not?

Nut cases seem to prefer the target rich environments!

I choose to be armed and protect myself and family.

I seem to remember that the same week as the Colorado shooting someone tried the same thing in San Antonio. Shot up the place he worked, shot at a patrol car, and starting shooting into a theater next door. An off duty deputy sheriff working security at the theater shot him 4 times and stopped the whole thing.

And the guy in Colorado didn't shoot up the theater closest to his home. Or the biggest one in the area. He shot up the one closest to his home that had "No Guns Allowed" posted. Guess he didn't know it was a gun free zone.

People are seated tightly together, it's dark, yet these askholes think it'd be a real good idea to take a gun to a movie. You know, so they can protect themselves... Lunatic gun nuts who have to carry wherever they go. SMH

Donna, you have the idea of people shooting wildly in the dark at each other. It is not like that. If the target has a gun and is shooting, shoot at the target with the gun. Better then getting shot doing nothing.

How about theaters hiring off duty police officers to sit in theaters. It might raise the price of a ticket slightly but that is a solution.

That is a good idea but will it pass Donna's scrutiny? We can't have a bunch of cops shooting up the theater and at each other.

I'm sure it would because they are trained, likely to be more proficient than the average Joe Blow with a pistol/handgun. Used to dealing with stressful situations.

It would take a very experienced individual who could shoot while standing on slanted flooring and who could shoot during the flickering of the movie in the dark to hit a person near others. Chances are even a well qualified shooter would hit another theatre goer. Most of the gun nuts are not well qualified.

If you're afraid of getting shot in the movies, stay at home and watch tv. Then you can be afraid of a home invasion but can keep your gun close by your side.

What can possibly go wrong?

Let's see, four or five armed citizens, trying to identify who the shooter is, firing wildly into the crowd, with their dates or families cowering behind them in the darkness, while the remaining theater-goers rush wildy around in all directions.

Lord help us.

Yes, let us remember a trained police officer at the theater who shot and k**led someone who threw popcorn at him.

We need more of that.

...among 100 panicked viewers, screaming, rushing wildly to and fro in the darkness and confusion and the 'hero' shooting frantically at everyone who moves or screams.

I get it.

You have no idea what to do, how to do it, or to whom, but keep firing blindly.

Please warn me ahead of time, and I'll stay home.

Probably have the same training as the policeman who stopped a driver for not using her turn signal, ended up wrestling her to the ground off camera, hog-tying her, and carting her off to jail.

Put a .357 in those irresponsible and unprofessional hands, keep your head down, and pray.

You and Donna enjoy making up these impossible scenarios as if the two of you are experts. I am very sure that the shooter will be easily recognizable. He will be the one shooting. All others will be ducking or at best, running away from the shooter. Of course, everyone could run towards the shooter for a group hug.
