You might be paying a little too much for the Nikon 12-24mm F/4. ($45,200)
There are two Sigma 10-20mm. There is an F/3.5 and an F/4.5-5.6.
I also think there are two Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8 as well. One with a focus motor and one without. You will need to check this info, I am not positive, just going on vague memory. You will need the one with the focus motor.
There is a Sigma 8-16mm that is very highly regarded and wider than the rest.
Why would you take the 18-200mm as well as the 18-300mm?
I'd take the 18-300mm and a 50mm F/1.8.
Probably any are acceptable on a D5300. I'll let others answer that.
I wouldn't take both the 18-200 and the 18-300, though.
I've been looking at the Tamron 11-17mm f2.8. Very fast and not much more than the 11-18.

Same with Tokina 12-24. I like mine.
I think I would like the Sigma if you get the low light model and if it works on your camera for focusing. Leave the 18-200 at home and just take the 18-300 as your walk around lens. I finally learned how to travel light and just enjoy shooting what you see.

Dang, that's an expensive lens ;-)
I meant Tokina. I guess because I was just looking at some shots from the Tamron 150-600 and admiring them. I have the Sigma also very nice.

although i have a nikkor 12-24 and like it, I have friends who love that Sigma 10-20.
I have a Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 HSM that I like very much. It's very sharp with good contrast. The one potential problem is noticeable barrel distortion at 10mm. It goes away by 12mm and you can correct it in PP if it bothers you.
The Tokina lenses don't all have the focus motor you need. If you go for a Tokina make sure that it has the motor. I'm not sure about the Tamron. The older Tamrons don't all have the motor, so check before buying one.
The Sigma does have the motor. I use mine with a D5500 and a D5200. Any Sigma HSM lens has the motor.
I also suggest bringing a good compact camera as a back-up and for those times that you don't want to bring the DSLR.

I would get the one that's $45,200 just so I could brag that I have it.
I would put it on the camera and never take it off.
I would also permanently carry the camera with me whether I need it or not.
Kinda like wearing a 5 carat diamond ring!!!
Anyway, that's just what I would do!!!!!
Your welcome!

I cant give advice on the lense as there are too many variables to cover. however I can recommend KEH. One of the best online businesses I have ever dealt with. they set the standards, Plus they usually have the best prices as well as a free 6 month warranty to go with it. Do not be afraid to look at items marked bgn or ug. If you don't mind some minor cosmetic flaws you can save enough money to buy 2 lenses
There is a Sigma 8-16mm that is very highly regarded and wider than the rest.
I've had my eye on the reviews for this lens for a bit... Thinking of adding it to my arsenal!
