I just bought a sony slt a-65 on ebay from japan, when I hooked it up, I found it was set in "Japanese". I elected to keep it and over the last 3 days figured out how to do what I wanted it to do. if it's a camera "

Don't know that I agree with that. I bought a moderately expensive lens from Japan, nowheres near the cost of a Nikon 400mm f/2.8 AF-S though. I had an issue with it, tried to get it resolved through the seller, he was not too cooperative. I opened a case with Ebay, problem solved the next day.
