My mind wanders and it along with the nose of the car have no idea where we are going or how to tell when we get there. I drive the back roads of Cocke County Tennessee. They are mostly gravel and the sound of the tires over that breaks the silence.
The trees march down the road lining the pathway to who knows where, certainly not I. Yet I am not lost I know this wandering way will lead to a paved two lane highway somewhere ahead, and I have a full tank of gas and two cameras with extra batteries for each. Funny how things seem to fall into place with little effort on my part. There is a quiet peace here, no hurrying and scurring about here. Life slows down as does this driver who has placed the term senior citizen in the rear view mirror.
These are absolutely beautiful!!! I could live here and takes pictures every day and never get bored. The fall is my favorite and I love this part of the country. Hope you have many more for us to enjoy.
Tad, these are wonderful. Each one is a joy to behold!

BEAUTIFUL!!! love them all!
Tad, your pictures are great. They brought memories to mind, the smell of rural land and fall leaves, the solitude of open spaces, and the secure feeling of being alone yet not lonely. In the quietness your pictures evoke, I have the ringing in my ears to keep me company...
I think I enjoy what you wrote as much as do the pictures you took!

Thanks Jack !! If you are coming down from north of the park, depending on how much time you have, you could pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway around New Market Va. and come on down to the GSMNP, it is a beautiful drive, slow but beautiful. Coming into the park in Cherokee after stopping at the visitor center coming south go into Mingus Mill and if you have kids they will enjoy how flour land corn meal is made
