Oops...forgot about the camera body. I used my Nikon D7200 for the Kingfishers.
Yes, I usually do use a tripod but had a monopod in the blind with me for the Kingfisher photos.

Marsha, thanks for the info ! Can we assume these are all from a tripod ? Using what camera body ? Interesting that you shoot wide open so close .....

The Grosbeak was my first bird photo taken with the Tamron. Needless to say, I was excited! Especially at 600mm.

Such sharp shots. I wish I could get my Tammy to be that sharp.

Very good. I think people can discount the hard work and patience, the planning and set up, and want to know "the trick" or what equipment they should get. I just want to say that I appreciate what it takes to get images such as these, and acknowledge your accomplishment in getting such excellent results.

Thanks for posting these! Keep shooting, keep posting.

Thanks Mike! Sometimes I feel that I put more work into the processing than actually what it takes to get it. Seems like I'm always in LR and processing photos...going back and redoing it (them) after I let it go for a day or two. It's funny how that works.
I'm actually going to sit in the blind again tomorrow. Hopefully at least one of the family of four Kingfishers will come around. A friend of mine actually did see all four!
I will post more if I get some good ones...need that one with dinner going down! :-)

Some people get too wrapped up in PP and spend way too much time and money in it .......just my observation - I know.

Even what little I do - is too much for me !

Your images are absolutely stunning! I am green with envy! Were these cropped, and if so, how much? It looks like you were very close to the birds.

I am so impressed by your kingfisher pictures that I finally officially joined Ugly Hedgehog just so I could tell you so! I have been debating with myself whether or not to buy the Tamron 150-600 to go with my new Nikon D810. Your pictures have convinced me to go for it. Thank you.

Thank you Jean, I'm glad you like them. I was very close to her...if cropped at all, just maybe a little off the side. I was that close.

Wow...thank you Ken! I hope you love your lens as much as I love mine! Don't settle for it if the photos don't look too sharp..get another one! And I'd love to hear back from you on what you think after you get it. :-)
