I've been thinking about getting a Surface Pro as a bridge for my Macbook Pro and iPad. But now I've been checking out the Cintiq Companion. Looks like it will work as a tablet and a laptop, but is it overkill? I'm a semi-pro photographer, working in PS, LR, Topaz, On1, Painter, Photomatix, and portrait professional, mostly.

Does anyone have any experience with this device? It seems like it's really geared to professional graphic designers, but what about for photographers?

Thanks

I've been thinking about getting a Surface Pro as ... (show quote)

I bought one for my daughter when she started UC Davis last Fall. She uses it almost daily for her illustrating. It also works well for my photos, though I prefer a desk top and tablet myself for photo editing. I don't use a laptop for editing because the screens are too small for me.

By the way, Wacom is having a sale on refurbished Companions at the present time. great investment if you plan on getting one.

The big advantage of the Cintique is it doesn't require the hand/eye coordination a regular touch sensitive pad does- you see what you are doing on the tablet screen, not on another screen. If you have the coordination to use a regular tablet you can save a lot of $ and get the same results if your monitor is properly calibrated.
