We decided to get off the Capital Mall area near the end of our recent trip to Maryland / Washington DC and visit the National Cathedral. It's about 20-25 minutes by car from our hotel and was very amazing.
I posted the Library of Congress Building yesterday, the National Cathedral was even more impressive. It was built after a classic 14th century gothic style cathedral but built mainly in the 20th century. I am posting 7 shots below.

Hi Carlo, thank you. I had 2 lenses that day, my 24-105 mm and my 16-32 mm.
I think the set I posted was a mix of both.

Beautiful ! It almost looks European - is that where Sound of Music wedding was filmed ?;) the stained glass window is so unusual - thank you;)
Hi Susan, the cathedral was modeled after 14th century Gothic architecture. Gothic architecture is a style of architecture that flourished during the high and late medieval period. It evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture.
Construction on the National Cathedral began in 1907 and was completed in 1990. In 2011 there was an earthquake in DC which cased a lot of damage. Repairs and seismic retrofitting began in late 201 and is still underway today.
This place is beautiful and I highly recommend a visit. Not sure about the Sound of Music. :) :)
