As jgordon suggest... i name a photo i am working on. To seperated this image from that same day ! Such as " Bike Week " where as i might have 400 images per Day. But i just am working on the best of the Best from that day/file. So i name it "perfect bike 1" and copy and save it to the Desk Top or make a file file on the Desk Top " Perfect Bikes " i may work on it that night or not, but now i don 't have to go looking for it again by date/numbers... i know where it is !
"I know you 're trying to make a Point ? "
I had a image i was working on... of a Civil War Graveyard ! I copied it and saved it as " Graveyard 1 " so i could find it again... i worked on it and came up with an image i fell in love with ( "no , that ! never ! Happens ! " )
So ! the title i used to find the image " Grave Yard " no longer applied !
I took this image 16x20 canvas to an Art Show untitled... the public asked me " What is the Title " I said " Please ! You ! Help name it ? "
25 People that day said the same thing " I , see " Heaven and Hell ""

Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell...

That is a nice photo, and the Title, Heaven or Hell" fits nicely.

As far as naming your photo's so you can find them, I would never recommend that, unless you only have a few photos.

Personally, I let my camera's name all my photo's, they do it numerically and in sequence. Rather than titles, I use ACDSee, a program designed specifically to cataglog photo's, (as well as light editing). I have well over 30,000 photo's cataloged with key words, and I can find any of them rather easily and quickly.

If I want to give a photo a title, I can do that in the meta data using ACDSee to add that.

Thank... You for liking the title ! This is the point we where trying to make !

As far as naming photos ? "you have 30,000 photos" you may our may not know exactlly where they are ?
Very... Good advise for some !
" My wife takes about 2,000 photo per year... just Dates ! If we don 't copy... and put them, the good images in a serate file " to work on file " they are just dates !

As i was saying: " I shot 10,000 plus photos for the Clay County Fair, Fl 2014... in 11 days... 10 hour days ! Find something new to photo every day>>> all were color corrected and turned in>>> a year has past ! Now ! a year later ! i want to go though those images... to find the Cream... i copy those images and put them in a separate file to work on>>> just... saying

A provocative image, Michael!

I try to sort my images fairly soon after I shoot, but then I have a lot of free time :)

I move the keepers to folders that describe the subject, and are also sorted into groups by season: Summer 2015/birds, for example. The individual shots still retain their camera-assigned number, which helps keep them in chronological order within the named folders.

I agree that the title of this work, works. I've always had a horrible time coming up with titles. Most of my stuff on Flickr is titled, but then most of it is straight documentary photography, places we've been, things we've seen, so the titles are simply descriptive: Grand Canyon; Odd Fellows Hall Lake Mills; stuff like that. I mentioned elsewhere that when I was in school we were required to submit a "Weekly," any subject of our own choice, but we were also required (no exceptions!) to give the thing a title. I loved doing the Weekly assignments, except for the title part!  But I also realize that sometimes, especially with an abstract work or a composite, a title is very helpful at least as a starting point for the "What was he after" question. So, can I answer the question? Umm, no. :?

Excellent example of a good title. Great photo and I think the title adds a lot to the image.

Thank... You ! I feel if i left this piece untitled the Public veiwing it ! Would look at it... look for a title... see none and wouldn 't even look up again... just move on to the next piece in the show !

I posted this piece on facebook with this title " Mask of Pain " and within 4 hour . 10 people commented " How did you know how i felt ? " we are talking about those people that may " like " something every once in a while...

I felt this piece needed a title because it was abstract and needed direction ... Or it would just be another lost piece of Art !
