Country's Mama That's really well done! The fog, great composition, everything comes together and nothing is out of place. I love it!!! ..... Coot
A superb shot. The composition is outstanding IMO. Very nicely done and the download is awesome!
amazing difference between the download and the pic above. It's so much brighter and the colors are more vibrant. I wonder how they ever built that. Who built it? The pic definitely made me want to know about this place. that's enough for me. I'm not much interested in going into the technical stuff tonight. It did its job of capturing the imagination. Good job.
Judy,
What a wonderful image. The composition allows the viewer to follow the steps upward into the unknown. Out of the fog, spindly arms and fingers reach, but they are only branches semi obscured by the fog.
Very nicely photographed.

Very Very Nice
I have always liked fog, except to drive in.
I googled it.
It is the highest peak in South Dakota and highest east of the Rockies.
There are multiple hiking trails in the area and more than one leads to the top.
The stairs and the stone fire lookout tower at the top were built by the CCC in late 30s.
It is special to the Lakota and the place where Black Elk received his "Great Vision".
There is a proposal made by the state Board of Geographic Names to restore the Lakota name "Hinhan Kaga". They couldn't settle on a new name so it has been passed on to the federal authorities since it is in the Black Elk Wilderness area under the US Forest Service.
I like the composition, and the line. Color is good, detail very sharp. The fog is beautifully treated. A truly wonderful image. Over all, "ya done good," young lady.

Country's Mama,
This is indeed a unique image. It kind of promotes an eerie atmosphere to the overall feeling of the image.
Just for kicks, I downloaded it and played with it a little. I made it brighter in relation to the greens and yellows, and kept in just a little of the fog. It does portray a less eerie feeling, but seems to promote a much cheerier feeling with just a tad of your eeriness.
I like your image a lot and it is very well done. :-) It is amazing how a little different PP'ing lends itself to a somewhat different feeling or atmosphere to an image. Oh, how different choices in digital post processing continue to truly amaze me! It really is all in the eyes of the beholder.
Best Regards,
Tom
A wonderful picture Judy, it oozes atmosphere. The colour and detail are really good. The only change I would consider making would be to clone out those straggly branches centre left, only those in front of the rocks not those in front of the sky.
Graham
There but for some pesky branches intruding into your masterpiece would be a finished work of art.
Judy, this is awesome. It really pulls me in and sends me climbing up those steps (which to me is the test of a good photo). The change from clear to foggy is exactly at the right spot. If this were mine, I'd probably try to brighten it a little, but then would probably decide that ruined the mood. So I think it best to leave it as is. I know Bob would work this over and do a lot of tweaking, but since I'm not that good at it, I'd leave it alone.

Thank you. There is always a degradation of the image on UHH's thumbs.
That is one of the reasons I suggest that when you upload to this section you check store original. You can't really access the picture from the thumb.
