I live in a town know one can pronounce. Oconomowoc Wisconsin......
o con o mo walk an American Indian name meaning falling waters.
Ok, so I just updated my profile and added a photo....:-)
Some of the posters move around the country quite frequently. Some go to other countries frequently.
Adding the location of every place they might be would wipe out the avatar in the author's block.
Yes, I think everyone should be forced to post their location. It makes it so much more interesting. I hired a detective to find the homes of people who have posted their locations. He has provided with me with all sorts of information on them, including photos of home and family, financial details, friends and relatives, etc. Now, what to do with all that information. I'm kidding, of course.
It does make it interesting to know that I am conversing with photographers in Montana, Texas, California, or people just a couple of miles from where I live. I think it's funny that leaving location blank results in, "Location: in hiding."

As the saying goes "Where on earth are you from?"
who said anything about earth?

Is the witness protection program really that large? I have a feeling that most of you guys live in "interesting" parts of the world, so, you really should be proud of your photo environment and admit to it.

I always get a laugh when someone lists their location as in hiding, then in a post mentions where they live. Kinda defeats the purpose of being in hiding.

All right, let me see if I can explain this post. It was in response to Peppers post "Okay, Okay, I admit it." and her location is shown as "Earth". So this is in response to Pepper's location.
I hope this clears up why I made that comment.
I'm not hiding! I just decided to take "One Step Beyond" and be here with this great group.
Hey, save money on the detective, Google on name and pick up the location listed, then Google on financial disclosure and find out if they can afford a Hasselblad (check the house on Google live view), contact them and offer to trade a D90 for their Hasselblad (that simple). Do you want to trade?

Just an observation. Those who don't post their location in the beginning quite often, more than not, reveal in threads where they are from. People see their photos, and say, "Oooh, that's pretty, where you from?", or will post the location of the photograph, frequently, and before you know it, their location is not a secret anymore. Its the nature of sharing on this site. So when I see "in hiding" I just smile.
Maybe some just want to be "in hiding" until they feel comfortable about their photography and feel like they "fit in".
And, there are those who are in hiding because they isolate themselves in the real world, too.
Its my experience in the Ugly Hog that a lot of good people here are sharing caring folks and change peoples attitudes about isolating themselves. So maybe when we see someone "in hiding", our friendliness, patience and tolerance help to change their attitude.

I actually did put a name tag on upside down. When people pointed it out to me I told I knew that. That's so I could read it. Some of them didn't get that.
