I want a different camera then my SL1 And I was thinking of the7D or70D since it is newer to go with my 100-400mm What i would really like is a full frame 6D any available? Please pm me. I am not sure whats best for me. Love to shoot everything although i have been doing lots of birding since park is right across the ways. I need camera that can do BIF and other.

FYI,

I want a 6D as well but for birding I would get the 7DII or a 5DIII. The focusing for BIF is far superior on those 2 cameras than what is on the 6D. For landscapes and things that don't move as much the 6D is great. Almost bought one from B&H today, maybe tomorrow :)

A 7DII is pretty much the same price as the 6D ;)

I own (2) 70D's , doesn't work well a the higher ISO range ;)

Thanks beercat, I know what the 6D does but since i have a crop already I went to buy smart. I really think I need more camera then the SL1 although it is a fine camera.. I like the two camera's you mentioned butare quite a bit now, maybe more camera then i need.

For birding, especially birds in flight, a relatively high performance camera (frames/second, buffer size, and focussing system) will give you a better chance of capturing great images, if you know what you are doing.
A Canon 6D is not a high performance camera except in the IQ (especially at higher ISO values) department.
A 7D(II) and 70D will run rings around the 6D in the action department.
(I shoot with a 5D and 70D and Olympus cameras.)

I know the 6D is not action camera but is FF. and I know that the others will run circles around it.So if I need a 7 series camera will the older 7D due or 70D. I Like 7d2 but cost a lot.

As I mentioned, I own (2) 70D's and as long as they have good light they will in fact run circles around the 6D for things like BIF. However, the trade off is the ISO where the 6D doesn't grain out at high ISO settings, this is nice for getting a fast shutter speed with average lenses but then again who needs a fast shutter unless your thinking BIF.

The 7DII is the exact right camera and is no more expensive than the 6D. Does great at high ISO settings and the focusing system is fast, will run circles around the 6D.

I'll say it again ............ buy a 7DII ;)

I have the 6D and bought a 7DII because of the focus etc. for birds. Portraits, landscape, museum shots, it is my 6D. Birds it is the 7DII.
If you want to save a little get the 7D, it is just as capable at BIF and action as it ever was. Only in relation to the 7DII does it lose out. (Well the 5DIII and the 1Dx, but those are a whole different universe $ wise.)

I considered getting a 7D or 70D but decided to wait to save enough for the 7DII. The just before Father's Day I got a check from a pension fund that did an audit and found I had been underpaid about $40 a month for about 6 years. Got the camera as my Father's Day gift, I just had to pay for it myself.

Had to go snap a quick one .......... who says you can't snap fast moving targets with a 6D? A bit tricky compared to my 70D but I'll get used to the focus. For what I'm going to use it for it doesn't matter.
