Tired bird on the beach

I was sitting on the beach in L.B.I. N.J. and by chance photographed this sea gull as he landed, & snapped a few more, this is what I got.

A very fun series. That last shot is great on the DL. I can see his tonsils and what he had for lunch.

Oh my goodness!! what a MOUTH!!!
Was he yawning? squawking? breathing? beggggging for a hand out? Any idea?

Kevin, you're a lucky guy to get a gull to pose for you so casually. Are all NJ Gulls that friendly, or is it that you have an irresistible avian attraction?

I was amazed at how big the opening in the throat is, I guess that's how they eat crabs etc.

I thought it was yawning, but I really don't know.

Its probably the avian attraction, thats why I always wear a hat.
