Other than what is advertised in the literature for the park, is anyone aware of some other areas near the park that are great photo ops? Thanks for your help.

My mother happens to be Hungarian and I don't appreciate you making fun of her and her fine family. Please withdraw your post immediately. Thank you.
I don't know anything about the area but Hungry Mother looks like a very nice park. Looking forward to seeing your shots.

Sir, I'm sorry I misspelled the name of the park. It is called Hungry Mother SP. No offense was intended.

Years ago on our way back home we stopped over night in that park I believe it was 1971. I don't remember anything about it we just needed an over night place too part out trailer.

Hungry Mother State Park is a park in Smyth County, Virginia. It was named in honor of a small child who was found in the vicinity after he lost his mother. I don't know exactly how his mother died, but all the child could say was "Hungry Mother." I am sorry you took offense at this post, because I know that Hungarians have been fine people who have suffered through history, but please note that this park was named to honor a mother, not to make humor at the expense of anyone. I know this story because my mother, who died almost three years ago, was born in Saltville, VA, a town in Smyth County.
What does that have to do with Hungary?

The OP originally misspelled "Hungry" in the topic heading. It has since been corrected.

No one was making fun of any mother or family.
