How appropriate :)

Is this Chihuly? There is an exhibit in Seattle I've been meaning to get to. Have seen some shots in Photo Gallery. Stunning art.

Did you take photos other than this documentary one? Seems like it would be a lot of fun to discover various shapes and colors and points of view.

Linda take a brief look at my earlier post "Architecture" for a little history where this shot is from. I never got close enough to this to see who it was by. The only shot I have of it as it was crowded.

I did see those photos, and I'm so sorry I forgot to comment. I found them to be absolutely beautiful - breathtaking actually - and Bob Y did a nice job with groupings and frames.

Being out in nature so much, and mostly without people around, I completely forgot that sometimes you have to deal with crowds getting into your compositions :)

Photographically it is for me spot on. As for art it is not my cup of tea. Whoever the artist, it looks like they spent a considerable amount of time working on it.

Without meaning to push, why don't like it? The reason I ask is to understand what makes people like something or not. S-

This is, indeed, the work of Dale Chihuly, one of the pre-eminent glass artists of this recent fin de cicle. His muses include biological forms, mass and void, and he revels in hues and values interacting with textures. He is, to my mind, one of the truly awesome (a popular word I but rarely use) artists of all time, based entirely upon the impact his works have on me.

Do you have an image on UHH that was inspired by him? If so, can you provide a link? Thanks!

I guess I am not big on abstract art. As i mentioned a lot of work had to
go into making it. I can understand the effort and work to produce it. But that still doesn't make me like it. For example Salvatore Dali's art doesn't get my juices flowing. I can hear some people saying how can you say that, he is a renowned artist. His paintings have sold for thousands of dollars "You don't know anything about art." Which I don't. But something like one of the post in here was a floating teapot. Now that I appreciated. To me is was simple but it grabbed me. Not sure I have explained myself that well but hope you get my point. To me art is so subjective. Two people can look at the same thing and come up with different emotions about the artwork or photographs they are viewing.

How true that is, and not just about complex pieces. I posted a b&w of a lonely-looking old dog leaning against an old, neglected house.

A couple of folks were very moved by the emotion, but one person said, "Get closer and focus on the eyes." LOL

It seems my reaction may be somewhat the same. I don't care how famous someone may have become or how much someone else may have paid for it. The Dali photograph,(forgetting who did it) with the water and flying cat was just
too contrived. The image shown here...it is just too haphazard to be art.
