As suggested I used the 300 today and was able to get a couple of good shots. Was time limited but that was fine. Used my monopod and I believe they would have been better with a full tripod. My old tripod is great for set shots but weighs about 5 lbs so I usually don't carry it around. Thanks to all again, Greg

These are excellent, Greg. In future posts, if you tick the 'Store original' box, we can enlarge your pics for a better view. :-) :-)

I went to the post section and I see what to do and will do in the future. Thanks for the tip. Greg
Image #2 looks to be outstanding! Please post same image again, below, but this time check the box labeled Store Original, so we can enlarge to appreciate resolution & detail.
Beautiful shots of your dragons, Greg! You have a Common White-tail and a female Blue Dasher...I think. :-D

Here is Exif info of last image posted:
Camera Model: Canon EOS REBEL T5
Lens: 75-300mm f/5.7-43
Image Date: 2015-07-14
Focal Length: 300mm
Aperture: /14.0
Exposure Time: 0.0025 s (1/400-sec)
ISO equiv: 1600
Exposure Bias: none
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: shutter priority (semi-auto)
White Balance: Auto
Flash Fired: No
If you have similar opportunity, drop your ISO to 400 (- 2-stops), and increase your shutter duration to 1/100-sec (+ 2-stops). This will be a near-identical capture, but with far less digital noise.
