You have the perfect excuse to shop for a nice little waterproof camera.

Jerry, you are absolutely correct. I've seen a couple of Nikonos systems for sale lately.

I received an e-mail this morning offering a free maintenance service on my DSLR.

I am just wondering whether all Nikon users have had this same offer.

Just one problem: How can I part with my camera?
I first heard about this on yesterday's PetaPixel, and I'm a bit ticked off. I've been a Nikon user since 1968, but I didn't get the offer. What's the deal! Might be time to go to Facebook and raise cane.

I did call Nikon support and the offer is legitimate. I did not ask about the scope of the program so I can't tell you if you will receive the same offer, but I hope that you do.

Which leaves just one question: Where did you get the phone number you called: From the e-mail? Or from the Nikon website?

I did not see any phone number on the e-mail. The number that I called is the number on the Nikon site. (1-800-NIKONUS)

I just went to Nikon's Facebook page and posted this: What's going on with this "Free Maintenance Service Initiative" for selected cameras and users. I've owned a Nikkormat ft., a N8008, a N8008S, a N90, a N90S, a D1, a D200, a D300, a D300S, a D800E, and a P900, but I didn't get a "golden ticket." What is the deal?

I encourage other D800, D800E, and D710 users to do the same.

Might be a sure way to keep your name off the "select" list!

If they are that kind of company, I'd prefer to not be on their "select" list; but I think they want to avoid negative responses, especially when those responses can be viewed by others. Beside, I'm not trying to hurt them; I just think they owe it to all users to operate with equanimity.

Sounds very bogus to me. I'm a NPS member and have never received such an offer

We hogs are your friends, believe us, not your email! Just out of curiosity, what email address shows up when you hover your mouse over it?

I am not sure to whom you intended your posting, but I am the OP so I will respond.

The sender of the e-mail is "NikonInc<donotreply....

Furthermore, I and others have verified that this is legitimate.

Yes, you hogs are my friends, as are the good folks at Nikon.

Sounds like they are quite selective and sparse as to who is considered their "friends". Luckily Madman you made it to their list.

Madman, is that a P2V you're standing next to?
