Thanks for being diligent and confirming! Kudos. There are so many scams around these days.

I would be very happy to get that genuine e-mail from Nikon, err for my Canon cameras!

Take care, and good luck!

I'll make you the same offer that oldtigger gave me. Don't forget to include your longest lens. I'll check that out for you as well.

A friend of mine received e-mail from Nikon also, for his d800, which included his serial number, i guess because he registered his camera. It stated as a valued Nikon customer they would like to learn more from you to meet your needs and preferences concerning service, some paraphrasing here. He said its free

My gear also is registered with Nikon. Yes, the service is free and includes software updates and two way shipping.

As soon as I find a time when I can be without my camera, I will take them up on their offer. It's good for six months.

Nor I, but only had the D7100 for about a month or so. Would be nice if they'd make me that offer for my two D80's.

See, the trick here is to own more than one Nikon (I have several). That way, you can send one in and still have one (or more) to shoot with!

I do have my FM and some film but it would cost a fortune in film and processing each time I would use it. I gave my D80 to my brother and I could borrow it back. Then thing is, using the D7100 has spoiled me.

I'd treat the too-good-to-be-true offer with some scepticism.
With respect to Nikon, I'm not particularly aware of them being the type of organisation to offer free stuff....they charge pretty much for everything.
One of their better offers in the UK is that if you are deemed to be a pro, by having a reasonable list of pro gear, you can qualify for a quicker turnaround when they service your equipment.....but free? no!

This is on Nikon Rumors web site, I would call Nikon repair facility to find out if this is legitimate.

I received an e-mail this morning offering a free maintenance service on my DSLR.

I am just wondering whether all Nikon users have had this same offer.

Just one problem: How can I part with my camera?

Sounds like a scam to me.

i would call CAMETA and ask what they think and go through them to get this service. After all, you did buy it through them and they sent the camera for refurb before you purchased it. If the camera needs some rebuilding or parts replacement due to this refurb work, then they can take the responsibility of sending the camera for this repair.

I also never got any notice of a mass recall and redo from Nikon unless it was widely acknowledged throughout the industry and all dealers knew about it.

You should also forward your service notice to Cameta so they can evaluate it's authenticity.

It's a service recall for the D750 - shutter problem I believe.
