Any Pentax user have this lens and if so do you like it?
Sharp? Reliable focus? Can you use an extender on it? Thanks.

I have that lens and currently using it on a K3. Very pleased with it. And the Pentax 1.4x HD PENTAX-DA AF Rear Converter AW for K-Mount Lenses is supposed to be a match for it although I haven't tried it yet.

Glad to hear from someone using the lens- thanks.
Two separate questions-
How does the camera and lens combo work for birds/ BIF? Have you used it for that purpose?
And one other question- do you know if vintage Pentax lenses will fit the K 3 mount or is an adapter needed?

I have always felt that Pentax is lagging behind on auto-focus. The SDM focus seems better than in the past though but still a little slow for BIF - that being said, I usually try to shoot at a low ISO. Yes I have several older lenses and they all work fine on the K3. Prob my most commonly used is an older FA100 2.8. I will do some more experiments on BIF next time I get to go to Florida!

Thanks again for the information- just what I needed to know.

I am not very good at BIF but here is an example of that combination.

No adapter needed except for the M42 screw mount lenses. Otherwise all previous generation K-mount lenses are useable without adapters and with varying degrees of automation.

That thought crossed my mind but then I thought if I do it will only be in manual focus and I can't catch a bird in auto focus so maybe not :)

I have some old Pentax lenses I use on my Olympus M-10 with an adapter- really like the lenses.

The Pentax ones I have are m42 mounts. Sometimes the aperture pin can be an issue, but I found this adapter that doesn't interfere with it...this is the only one I found that works with my 135mm f2.5 lens.

It's a helicoid too, which helps shorten up the minimum focus distance.

And it's reasonably priced. I just ordered one- thanks.
