Non descriptive titles - Akkk!

Am I the only one who wishes people would use descriptive titles when they post, especially in the main photography forums here?

So often I see titles like "question," or "I need help," etc. I don't know about you, but I am much more likely to click on a topic if I have some clue about the topic.

Basil, it doesn't bother me at all, we are suppose to be here
to help others, that's the idea of the Hog.

Yes, I get that. But as a guy who has been running a car-related forum for over 15 years, I feel it is helpful when people at least put something in the title to give forum members a clue whether it's a thread they want to click on. Imagine if every thread that was posted had a topic of "I have a Question." You would have to start at the top and click on every topic to see if it was something of interest to you.

You are right of course that "we are supposed to be here to help others." Don't you think that in that spirit, putting a descriptive title in your thread would be "helping" others by not wasting people's time who may not have an interest in a particular thread?

Of course you are free to disagree, but it is my opinion that is is helpful to all members when we use titles that give some clue as to the topic of the thread.

So, don't click on it if you don't want too.

While you make a valid point, not everybody has the time to devote to keep up with all of the posts. Also, if I have a question, I would prefer to enhance the possibilities of getting an answer. :-)

I agree with you that it would be helpful, but most are new
members and don't know how to pose a question, we can
either respond or ignore them, I choose not to ignore.

Thank you Dave. I will never forget when I first joined and
I innocently asked "Which is better Nikon or Canon", the
crap I got was uncalled for, I didn't know any better, as most new posters.
