I love my L glass and personally think they are worth every penny I spent. I have 2 L lenses and when compared to my non-L glass the images are so much better. Crisper. Cleaner. The reason for this post is that I was asked if L glass is worth the money. The person is thinking about purchasing a T3 canon and was told that they would need "more" of a camera to get the shots L glass was made for. I don't believe that is the case. What do you think???

Hi Fran: I'm guessing you mean the Canon T3i, after reading the reviews on it I saw nothing that would indicate that it won't take an "L" series lens. The only features that the reviewer didn't like about it were the pop-up flash and the placement of buttons. My advice over all is if indoubt ask at the UHH which you did and contact places like B&H, Adorama or KEH to name a few...Best of luck in finding you answer.As to your question about "L" glass being worth the money. I would have to say, "Depends on how serious the person is about photography and what kind of results they expect." I own one "L" series lens the EF 70-200 mm 2.8 USM with matching 1.4 teleconverter. The rest of my glass ranges from one kit lens, to the nifty 50 1.8 II , a 24 mm 2.8 wide angle to a 100 mm 2.8 USM Macro. All of course Canon lenses for my Canon 5D Mark II. I don't really consider myself a serious photographer but do like good quality toys...

Better lenses will always give (technically) better pictures, assuming they fit on the camera in question. When I tried Zeiss primes on my humble 6 megapixel Nikon D70, it was like a new camera after the kit zoom.

L lenses are fine for the T3. Someone was just wanting to sell this person a camera, I suspect.
I can vouge for the L series. I waited about 3 years to buy one and when I finally did, I can't believe I waited so long. A dramatic improvement was immediate in my images.
Now I can't wait until I have the dough for a shorter wide-angle L to go with my 70-200mm USM II. I have friends that have the 24-70 f/2.8, and swear by it.

Here is a video where they use a T2i with an L lens and use a normal lens on a pro body and then compare the shots...

Oh Great! I just purchased the Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8 VR II with my retirement savings. I love it already after 2 days shooting with it.

Now I need the 24-70. I guess I just need to retire again.

I purchased the same one and ditto your thoughts.... I have not found the non-IS to be a disadvantage have you?
