Mac Pro recognizes the wireless device but says I need a password. I find no password in instructions, literature that came with wireless unit WU-1a. I need Help Everything I search tells me how to recover a password but I never had one to start with. The unit is so small there is no room for a password to be printed. Anyone have an idea where to start? Thanks in advance

Yes you do have a password. It is asking for the password for your wireless network. All wi fi routers have a password to keep people from using your internet connection.

This is first time connection and I have no password supplied with the unit. Guess I didn't ask the question properly

You asked the question right. The password is the one needed for the wireless transmitter to connect to your wi-fi network. The wireless network is the one used by your computer. If you have an ethernet cable connecting you mac pro to the internet, you need a wi fi router to make it work.

Upon checking the Nikon web site I found the following manual. It has the directions for connecting.

http://download3.nikonimglib.com/archive1/7HPKt00C8Akv011BUx476FUzP434/D-WMUI__-010402BF-___EN-ALL___.pdf

It also does not say anything about a mac pro. It only covers iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

I'm not getting through to YOU. The DU-1a module is the router
It was not supplied to me with a password. Never had a password to enable me to connect to my Phone or Mac.

How do you connect to the internet with your computer?I think the unit you are talking about that came with the camera is the transmitter. It is trying to access your wireless system which was set up when you set up with your isp (Internet service supplier). That has a router somewhere in your house. It has a password you set to allow anything to connect to it.

And you are not reading the manual. That wireless adapter will NOT work with a mac Pro. It only works with the iPhone, iPad, & the iPod touch.. To work with the mac pro it needs a different program and that program needs the wi fi router.

Are you saying I should use the same password I use to connect
my computer to the internet? This Unit has a WPS button, same as my router for the internet. I assumed I needed a separate password-is this my error?

CORRECT WPS button may just connect to your wireless system on it's own just by pressing it. However if it's asking for the password and has a space to type it in, give it a try. What's the worst that can happen?

As a rule of thumb, a password for anything is always set by the end user (you) not the mfgr. That's what makes it secure..only you know what that is.

My Mac Pro recognizes this DU-1a as a wireless source, same as my internet source. Both the Android phone and Mac Pro are recognizing this new source-both devices ask for a password.

Was there a sequence of steps to set this system up like there was for your home wireless system where you had to create a password? On your mac where it lists wireless connections available in the area is the camera source listed for you to select? I think the answer you will give me is yes..if so then at some point you must assign a password to that unit. It has to be somewhere in the instructions. If all else fails, call Nikon. From what I hear they are very helpful.
