PC Compromised?

I need advice on what to do about an online scam I fell for. As soon as I realized my mistake, I unplugged my PC and cancelled my credit card. My virus program didn't detect anything but I'm afraid to use the PC. I downloaded all my files from Carbonite to another computer. Is there a program that I can get to clean the suspect PC? Anyone have any experience with the Geek Squad at Best Buy ($150 to $200)? The computer is only 2 years old and was expensive. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

There are other choices to the programs listed below, but this should get you started -

Open the Control Panel and look for anything suspicious.
- Google what you don't know

Open your browser(s) and look for Extensions and Add-ins.
- Google what you don't know

Download and install CCleaner then download and install CCenhancer.
- then run CCleaner, and Registry Repair

CCenhancer http://singularlabs.com/software/ccenhancer/download-ccenhancer

Download, install and run Windows Security Essentials
- also known as Windows Defender on certain Windows platforms
Windows Security Essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download

Download, install and run Spybot
- be sure to Update and Immunize
Spybot Anti-malware and Antivirus http://www.safer-networking.org/dl

Download, install and run FileHippo
- and update everything you see
FileHippo http://filehippo.com

Run Windows Updates
- update everything...
- I don't like to install Bing or Skype, but that's me

Download, install and run Defraggler
- Defrag and defrag and defrag as needed
Defraggler http://www.piriform.com/defraggler/download

Reboot and retry

If you still have problems -
Download, install and run HitmanPro 3
- You can diagnose and run one, or for thirty days, I can't remember
- After that you have to pay for it (I Google what I see and remove it manually)

Good luck! S-

If nothing else, always keep a copy of everything on a back up hard drive in case you just need to wipe the disk. Acronis allows you to take a mirror copy of your hard drive, including programs and operating system. WD has gotten smart now and is now using Acronis as their software.
