Just wondering if anyone here has used the "SigMonster" as its called. The Sigma 800mm F5.6 EX APO HSM lens. I have been reading reviews and ogling it for some time now and finally pulled the trigger on one this morning and was just looking for a little first hand info. All the reviews I have seen compare it essentailly equally to the Nikon 600mm F4 when used at F5.6 and out. Sure hoping that is true. I should have it by the end of next week, they ship directly from Sigma, Japan this Friday.

I can't wait to see what you do with it. It is in good hands.
Think I'd buy the full warranty/insurance on that one.

I have telescopes with less power, congratulations. That is a hefty lens to be putting on a camera and you must have a good tripod to mount it on, but what kind of tripod head will you use? I wish I could afford one; the wife gives me problems just spending $1,700 for a lens.

What? a 275.6 in minimum focusing distance? You'll NEVER be able to take good indoor low light party shots with that!...what a piece of crap!..I'm sticking with my 50mm f/1.8!

I have a Gimbal to use it on. With my D7000 it will be a 14 pound setup, not for sissies! LOL And it was a rare factory refurb, lets just say it was definitely priced right!

Yeah I know. Pretty severe limitations huh? But if the party is on the next block I can get some GOOD candids!
Hey guys, I thought it was ME that was supposed to get excited over a new lens!!
WOW!! you can really shoot the moon with that one MT!
Never thought about the moon, will have to try that. I primarily want it for bear and wolves in Yellowstone. (At my age, I don't run as fast as most of my shooting partners anymore so I need an edge! LOL)
