Yesterday I had a chance to try out my new Nikon 77mm circular polarizer. This photo shot with Nikon D5100, 18-55 kit lens at 23mm. The filter size for this lens is 52mm and I used a step up ring to fit the 77mm filter. I wanted to see if this larger filter helped cover more of the sky at shorter focal lengths than a 52mm filter.By the looks of this first test I think it does.
This is an old Methodist church in Heiberger, AL. I cropped out a lot of the gravel parking lot.
You got the sky too dark. Nice photo though.

Heh heh, yeah, pushing the limits of the new gadget. Kind of like putting the pedal of the new car on the floor just to see what she would do. :)
Take several pics with the filter rotated in about 15 degree increments to see the varying effect it can have. I use only 77mm filters and add step-up rings to the lenses needing them, much more economical way to go.
