The other day I was in Best Buy and decided to look through an electronic view finder. I was surprised that with my glasses on the view finder wouldn't turn on when I tried to look through it. Taking my glasses off and looking again the view finder turned on. Has anybody else experienced this or was this just a fluke?

Probably fluke.....when you took your glasses off you probably pushed the release button down some too and turned the view ON...... :XD:

Some cameras won't turn on the EVF when you use eye glasses. It has something to do with glass on glass. Panasonic, Sony, & Fujifilm have an eye sensor that has to be covered to get the EVF to work.

Sounds like a fluke...the evf on my EM1 works like a charm. The only thing I don't like is using my polarized sunglasses with my EVF.

Check to see if your glasses have a polarized coating. This can cause many electronic screens (such as an EVF) to look blank and dark.

EVF is a mini LCD display that acts as a view finder on Bridge and such cameras........cameras that are Not "reflex" you could say, I guess.

It still does not explain the "Electronic" part of it. He wants to know why it is called Electric.
