I need a flash that will work on a Canon SX50

I have a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS and I want to get a flash that will work properly on it. I don't have the money to invest ina a Canon flash so I am looking for an off brand that will work on the SX50 and be able to use the ETTL functions. Does anyone know of some suggestions that will definitely work on it? Is the SX50 flash shoe a standard Canon hot shoe or is it special?

It's a standard Canon hot shoe, but I can't confirm the enhanced functions. I do have a Sunpak 3000 (canon model) that works with it.

Target & Walmart both have models that will work with it. I believe the Sunpak mentioned above is available at Walmart and has better actions on the flash head (swivel as well as tilt). Target has a Targus mode with a tilting light element, but not quite as versatile. Both available for appro $60 or a bit less.

I don't have the SX50 but do have the SX60 and have used a Yongnuo (565 or 568) in the hot shoe - worked fine but I would rather use the remote trigger (YN 622C) instead. With the remote triggering I had to go to manual mode because TTL did not work (but it does on my 7D so don't know if it is a Canon or a Yongnuo issue).

I think I may have seen that. I believe it is a Sunpak 3000. I go back and take a look at it. Thanks.

I had been looking at the Yongnuo flash but it didn't say whether or not it was compatible with the Canon SX50. I check it out again on Amazon. Thank you.

Thank you, I had gone to the site and just searched for a flash for an SX50 but I hadn't thought to look up the camera and then look under the accessories.
