Photos to Android tablet.
Can any one tell me if it is possible to copy photos directly ( ie not via computer, Dropbox etc ) from an SD card to a Samsung Android tablet? I can view them via a card holder and mini USB connector but cannot copy them to the tablet itself. I have tried Google, Android for Dummies without success although there is a hint that a File manager App may help. Any help would be much appreciated.
What camera do you have. You will probably need to download an app for your camera brand. With Sony it's PLAY MEMORIES.
Google Sony Playmemories... not sure for your application but it is a popular one.
I use EyeFi SD cards, they will do exactly what you want. I don't use the Mobi Pro version as the EyeFi Mobi suits all my needs.
When I go on a photo shoot I take my Android tablet with me and when I take a photograph it is transferred to the tablet more or less immediately. These cards are class 10 and come in 3 sizes 8/16/32, they cost more than normal cards but I would buy an 8gb card, leave it in your camera and when the card is getting full, simply format it as your photos will be stored on your tablet. You can then upload them to your PC each time you get home. Look at the EyeFi site here:

Your camera must also have WiFi of some sort. The app is to tell android how to handle the jpeg file.

I have used a micro-SD card in an adapter in my camera, then popped the micro card out of the adapter and into the tablet slot, and could see the photos directly. From there they could also easily be copied to a folder on the tablet's drive.
The micro-SD card is not my first choice to take photos though, too tiny for arthritic fingers....
One post asking for help and gone.

Huh?
Maybe allow OP some time? Less than 3 hours between his post and your answer. Some people only check their messages once a day, that would give around 24 hours between OP's post and checking for answers.....
Yes it is possible with the correct cables. I use a card reader and a 16 g USB thumb drive with mine all of the time.
Most people will stick around at least for a little while to see if they get an answer when asking for help.
Have seen several threads where a question was asked then the op disappeared.

Some people still work, oh that dirty word, remember Maynard G. Krebs allergy on the Dobie Gillis Show,
Who would let work stop them from posting here?
Seriously, can understand why might not have, just seen a few posts asking for help where it looked like the real intent was to start an argument. And they were all op single posts.

I checked a few of the threads OP posted in this section. In all the ones I checked he came back and participated in the discussion again, even though it was a day or two later. So let's give him the latitude to come back if and when he can and not decide that he's gone within three hours of his starting a topic.

Thanks to you and others who have offered suggestions . I will work through those asap. I have Pentax cameras one of which, a recently purchased K50, has the ability to use wifi cards etc. The tablet is a Samsung Tab 4.
I am sorry that some people got upset that I was not still on line but the fact of the matter is that being in the southern hemisphere in another time zone , I posted in our night ( it is now 6.30 am ) and went to bed shortly after. I had spent much of a busy day helping tend to our daughter and grandchildren laid low with the flu. Today will be little different but I MAY be able to play my regular 9 holes of golf.
